ORGANIZATIONAL OVERVIEW
The mission of The Bridge is the prevention and elimination of domestic violence and sexual assault. We work to enhance safety and to promote equality in relationships. We are opposed to the use of violence to control the lives of others. The Bridge is committed to eliminating violence in the lives of women, children and men through empowerment, education and social change.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Development Director collaborates with a team to inspire community members, foundations, organizations and others to support The Bridge through development, fundraising and grant efforts. The role involves organizing large-scale fundraising initiatives, working with board members, managing the annual fund and building relationships with donors, staff and volunteers.
This position reports to The Bridge Board of Directors.
PRIMARY DUTIES
General Responsibilities:
- Establish a long-range strategic plan, positioning The Bridge for growth and increased awareness in the communities we serve
- Work closely with the Executive Director to prepare and plan the organization’s annual budgets
- Review and monitor program budgets regularly for efficiency and effectiveness
- Assist in preparing the annual audit and all grant monitors
- Identify and cultivate long-term relationships with prospective donors
- Manage and lead The Bridge’s staff, providing guidance, training and support as needed
Grant Research, Writing & Reporting:
- Write and submit grants to foundations, organizations and government agencies
- Collaborate with program staff to track/receive data for grant submissions throughout the year
- Prepare all grant reports with supporting documentation
- Research additional grant opportunities for application
Development:
- Strategize and execute The Bridge’s fundraising plan to reach annual monetary goals
- Identify potential target markets and potential donors for sustained funding
- Manage the implementation of a donor database system
- Lead the Board of Director’s Fundraising Committee in securing sponsorships, auction items and any other necessary donations
- Monitor and analyze fundraising data to evaluate performance and adjust strategies, making data-driven decisions to help the organization reach its fundraising goals
Other Duties:
- Attend monthly Board of Directors and staff meetings
- Assist in providing on-call coverage of our crisis line (and one holiday per year)
- Network with the community to bring awareness, advocate for clients and represent The Bridge’s interests to partners, supporters, board members and funders.
- Assist the Executive Director in the ongoing promotion and growth of our programs
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, business administration or a related field
- Minimum 3 years experience in a public, non-profit or business organization with proven track record of success leading

- Strong interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to write clearly, speak in public and communicate effectively with stakeholders, staff and partners
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and frequent deadlines
- Strong leadership and management skills
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and build relationships
- Must be a strategic thinker with the ability to identify challenges and opportunities then develop creative solutions to meet goals
- Proficiency in MS Office applications

SALARY & BENEFITS
Salary Range:
- $60,000 - $70,000, based on experience
